Self-reflection – Early February 2024

Hi international friends, February has just begun, and I’ve already experienced quite a bit. To say I’ve been through a lot is an understatement. 2024 is shaping up to be a challenging year, and my recent experiences have made my days both exciting and somewhat depressing. What I’ve come to realize is that life goes on, and living isn’t a fantasy. However, life can still be full of mysteries and potential if you choose to see it that way. Here are some of the experiences I’ve recently had.

Things I take for granted:

The word ‘ordinary’ encompasses multiple meanings. It can refer to an ordinary life, ordinary people, or an ordinary job. However, what’s considered ordinary for one person may be far from ordinary for someone else, perhaps even something someone on the other side of the world deeply desires.

In certain regions of our world, some people risk their lives simply by going for a walk, due to ongoing wars or political turmoil. When I traveled to a nearby town to attend a meetup group session, I was never robbed or physically attacked. I recognize that my life has its challenges, but I’ve come to realize that, often without acknowledging it, I take many things for granted.

I’m grateful for the bus and train drivers who safely transported me from point A to point B, the individuals who served me cups of coffee at restaurants, and the farmers who cultivated the vegetables and fruits that are eventually served in our restaurants.

I acknowledge that my country faces numerous challenges, and I do not intend to justify any mismanagement by our government. However, when you start to appreciate what you have, navigating this complex world becomes somewhat easier. And never forget to always be humble.

My uncle:

I have an uncle who recently invited me to his house, leading to some unexpected discussions. Since he has no children, he treats me as his own. Ever since my father passed away three years ago, my relationships with my family members have dramatically changed, including my relationship with my uncle.

During my visit, he spoke about his future, noting that he is in his 70s, and discussed his preparations for the end of his life. It was a conversation I wasn’t prepared to have. He outlined several scenarios in which I could inherit a portion of his assets along with my other cousins.

However, I made it clear to him that I wanted no part in disputes over money or assets. Moreover, since the conversation also touched on his mortality, it might have been uncomfortable for him as well. Despite this, I appreciated his honesty and the conversation.

What I truly desire is for him to maintain his health, hoping for more opportunities to engage in enjoyable and meaningful conversations with him.

But now, let’s shift gears and return to the main topic. Sometimes in life, you’re required to engage in conversations that are uncomfortable, and that’s a part of living.

Blockchain:

Starting today, I embarked on my journey to learn the basics of blockchain technology. What I’ve understood so far is that blockchain operates as a decentralized system, where each participant in the blockchain network maintains a copy of the database, rather than relying on a centralized database. Whenever a change occurs in one of the nodes within the blockchain, this change is propagated to the rest of the nodes, much like a chain reaction—likely the reason behind the name “blockchain.”
