About this blog

Intro:

The photographic journal Canvas of Dreams started in 2016 (The domain was taken in 2015). Canvas of Dreams is a unique creation of John the LinuxWalker, an enigmatic master of Linux. This photo journal is his way of documenting his journeys, whether for travel or work.

Our world is in a constant state of flux, filled with wonders and mysteries. John’s wide-ranging curiosity about technology, politics, climate change, and human rights inspires him to cover a diverse array of topics. His goal is to encourage readers to ponder why the world works the way it does and to see things from a broader perspective.

The blog’s name, Canvas of Dreams, reflects the belief that our dreams shape who we are and what we can achieve. Dreams are the fuel that drives us through tough times. They are the reason to get back up when we fall. Without dreams, we lose a fundamental part of ourselves.

Canvas of Dreams aims to connect with fellow dreamers, inspiring them to pursue and achieve their dreams.

Life is short. Dream big! Are you ready?

Political Standpoint:

Canvas of Dreams positions itself as a left-wing blog. Influenced by the author’s late father, who was an elderly caregiver, feminist, liberalist, and human rights advocate, the blog upholds values that support the socially vulnerable and minorities. This includes women, the LGBTQ+ community, migrants, and underrepresented ethnic groups, not just in Japan but globally.

However, being a left-wing blog doesn’t mean it endorses communism or authoritarian regimes like the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Its political viewpoint aligns more closely with Western progressivism than with such state-controlled systems.

Moreover, Canvas of Dreams is a staunch advocate for democracy, freedom of speech, and basic human rights. The blog firmly opposes any form of speech suppression, holding the conviction that free speech is an integral part of human rights. It views any effort to suppress speech as a threat not just to the blog but to the free world at large. To uphold its commitment to democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights, Canvas of Dreams continues to publish posts that question the organization of our world and the actions of world leaders.

Technology (Linux):

Canvas of Dreams also serves as a tech tutorial blog for Linux enthusiasts. As the name suggests, John the LinuxWalker engages daily with his Linux laptop and servers. In his home, Linux servers function as his network server, where he stores personal documents and spreadsheets, reducing his reliance on Dropbox and Google Drive.

Essentially, Linux is at the core of his tech universe. Consequently, in his blog, he periodically shares his insights and expertise in Linux. So, if you’re also a Linux desktop and server user in your daily life, let’s connect! Feel free to visit the blog anytime for some Linux camaraderie.

Technology (Android):

John the LinuxWalker, the creator and chief editor of Canvas of Dreams, is a passionate Android aficionado. His deep-rooted interest in Android and Google’s products and services compels him to chronicle his daily experiences with not only Android devices but also a wide array of technologies.

His enthusiasm for Android is a cornerstone of the blog’s tech content. From rooting and custom ROMs to app development and task automation, his fascination with the operating system has been unwavering for over a decade and continues as long as Google keeps evolving it.

Canvas of Dreams is, at its core, an Android-focused blog. However, it strives to be more than just another tech blog. Its technological discussions are a unique blend of his tech enthusiasm and life experiences. The blog’s approach to tech writing is about exploring how immersing ourselves in the world of technology can enhance our lives.

Religious View:

As a firm advocate of free speech, Canvas of Dreams maintains a secular stance and does not align itself with any religious organizations. The blog holds the perspective that religion can sometimes hinder progress in the modern world and potentially challenge the foundational principles of democracy, freedom of speech, and basic human rights. The focus here is on modern science and mathematical analysis, leaving little room for religious content.

However, this doesn’t imply that Canvas of Dreams outright rejects religious beliefs. Instead, the blog navigates a middle ground between religion and science. It doesn’t confine itself to absolutes—be it left or right, black or white. The possibility of a higher power or a heaven is acknowledged, but these concepts are viewed as personal and separate from organized religious traditions. That is the stance of the blog.
