Yokohama – Past, Present, and Future

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

Yokohama holds a special place in my heart. It’s the city where I shared many moments with the women I once dated. One memory that remains vivid is the moment I kissed my ex-girlfriend in front of the waterfront garden in Minato Mirai.

“You will find a wonderful girlfriend,” she told me when we parted ways a few months later.

Ten years have passed since then, and I’m still searching for a romantic partner. My life has been turbulent, marked by career milestones, personal events, family tragedies, and more.

Since achieving my dream career last year, things have been looking up. I’ve built new friendships through social connections and find joy in conversations and interactions. Yet, whenever the topic turns to family, I can’t help but feel left behind.

Most of my peers are married with children. As for me, I’m still single. Something is missing—and I know exactly what it is. It’s love. Without love, life feels dull.

I understand that everyone has their own values, and I respect that. But for me, love is the one element still absent from my life.

As I stand at the edge of the Port of Yokohama, watching the ships drift slowly across the water, I can’t help but wonder where my own journey is headed. The harbor stretches out before me, vast and open, like the future itself—unwritten, uncertain, yet full of possibility.

The breeze carries with it memories of the past and whispers of what might still come. In the quiet rhythm of the waves, I see moments not yet lived: a warm hand to hold, laughter in a shared home, perhaps even the gentle chaos of family life.

The horizon doesn’t offer answers, but it invites hope—and in that, there’s something deeply powerful.
