Intro:
Hi international friends. It’s been a while since my last life update back in early October, and currently, I find myself in the midst of chaos.
Due to privacy concerns and professional obligations, I’m unable to share the specifics, but it seems I’m almost involuntarily compelled to leave my current job, possibly by the end of this year. The toxic work environment has given me numerous reasons to seek a fresh start.
Fortunately, I’ve received invitations from talent acquisition teams at other companies, so I’ll continue my search for new opportunities.
To achieve this, I’m consistently improving my skills through coding practice while keeping my motivation alive. Additionally, I’m working on building a portfolio of Android apps using Kotlin. My goal is to have the basic features completed by the end of this year, which should position me to explore potential Android developer roles in the near future.
Parting ways with an unfulfilling friendship:
As often happens in life, change is constant, and this includes our relationships and even our friendships. Friends may come and go, and only those who truly matter stay with you. In this instance, I’ve made the decision to part ways with a friend, with whom I’d formed a connection over the past couple of years.
We initially met through a covid survivors’ group back in 2021, and she was in her late 50s at the time. Our weekly conversations were meant to provide support to one another. However, it became apparent that she was developing deeper feelings for me and started sending messages that made me feel uncomfortable.
I want to emphasize that she’s not a bad person, but given the significant age gap, the situation became overwhelming for me, and I eventually decided to put some distance between us.
This time, I chose not to block her as I’ve done with previous acquaintances. However, I don’t foresee continuing our communication.
Hard to maintain a motivation:
As I mentioned earlier, I’m determined to keep fueling my motivation to move forward in life. However, I’m currently grappling with mental health challenges triggered by my toxic work environment. I strongly believe that work should not be your top priority, and the same applies to me. I’m determined not to allow my current conditions to lead to irreversible health problems that could cost me both financially and in terms of well-being.
It’s better to step away from my job before these mental health issues become too severe. These issues don’t just affect you; they also have an impact on those around you, including friends and family. If you’re not content with your situation, it’s often best to leave it behind and start over.
But at the same time, it’s crucial to keep my motivation alive.
*Update in early November*
I originally intended to publish this post in late October, as the title suggests. However, due to my busy schedule, I couldn’t find the time to complete it. Now, here in November, I’ve finally managed to find some time to provide a brief summary of my current situation.
Move on with my life:
Ever since I began my job search, particularly on LinkedIn, I’ve been contacted by some major tech companies in my home country. I’m not entirely certain if my skillset aligns perfectly with their requirements, but I don’t want to let potential opportunities slip by this time. I’m taking a chance to see how things pan out. As Forrest Gump once wisely said, “my mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. you never know what you’re gonna get.“
Afterthoughts:
All in all, things are progressing rapidly in my life, and I just wanted to share what’s been happening. It’s certainly been quite a roller coaster ride.
