Intro:
It’s already September, and due to my heavy workload, I haven’t been able to dedicate much time to my Android projects. I currently have three projects in progress, but my primary focus and passion right now are directed toward completing a newly started project on my System 76 laptop, which runs Ubuntu 22.04.
New season, new app:
While I’m in the process of developing the app, I don’t have any particular plans to release it on the Google Play Store. This is because it’s essentially a budget-tracking app, dealing with sensitive information like transactions and savings. Due to legal and security concerns, I believe it might not be suitable for public release on the app store. Instead, my main goal is to complete my portfolio, which I’m building using Kotlin. I hope to use this portfolio to attract potential future employers, as it’s been a long-time dream of mine to pursue a career as an Android app developer.
Not just for Kotlin, but PHP, Shell, and Python:
Similar to the other apps I’ve been developing on Windows, this application is cloud-based and currently operates on my home development server running Ubuntu Server 22.04. It utilizes the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack, with the entire API being constructed using PHP to manage MySQL queries.
Working solely with PHP can get a bit monotonous, so I’m looking to spice things up a bit by incorporating shell scripts and Python. My plan is to use these scripts to perform operations on the data retrieved from SQL and save it in CSV format within a specific directory on the Linux system.
Play with data:
What I mentioned earlier is just one example. There are so many exciting possibilities I want to explore with those server-side languages. Manipulating and cleaning datasets using scripting techniques brings me great satisfaction. But I wonder if I’m just a bit of a geek or if this passion makes me a bit peculiar.
Ever since my early days working with Excel VBA, I’ve been obsessed with numerical data and enjoy analyzing it to understand my own financial health. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, over the past year, I’ve been developing an Android app using Java, which is also a budget-tracking app. Building an app from scratch has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and sharing my work with the global tech community has been equally fulfilling.
Thanks to my old portfolio, my presence on LinkedIn has seen a significant boost, and I continue to receive attention from industry leaders even today.
After thoughts:
In conclusion, I have a genuine passion for what I do, especially when it comes to creating original content in the digital sphere. My enthusiasm for the Android mobile operating system further fuels my dedication to open-source-like projects in addition to my personal endeavors.
I’ve noticed how Android, Linux, and algorithms have gradually become interconnected in my work, forming a cohesive and evolving part of my journey.
