+Style Smart Electric Fan

“I typed in a single word: Vampre. Google asked, ‘Did you mean vampire?’ I said, ‘Yes.”
― Harvard Lampoon, Nightlight: A Parody

I’m a hardcore Google fanboy. I admit that. My whole life is being driven around Google. With the magic phrase “OK Google”, my home products are under my voice control. A ceiling light, a desk light, a humidifier, and monitors. And this time around, I’ve recently purchased a smart electric fan that works perfectly with my Google Assistant.

Even though this article is supposed to be about the smart electric fan, let me share a bit about my fascination with technology in general with you. A few years back, I’ve first watched the movie “Her (2013)”. The movie is set in an unspecified future a few years from today’s world where not only does technology fulfill our emotional needs, but also fill the gap of our broken relationship with another human being.

The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore and he interacts with an OS One, named Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), asking her to streamline his inbox, files, and folders. Even though my Google assistant isn’t as capable as Samantha, my assistant answers almost all questions I ask with accurate answers.

On top of answering my questions, as I mentioned above, it turns on/off my ceiling lights and even my humidifier. My interactions with those smart devices are getting me a step closer to the imaginary life I watched in the movie.

From here, let me give you a little glimpse into the smart electric fan. The smart electric fan is being sold by a company called +Style, an IoT device manufacture. The smart humidifier I’ve mentioned above is also a +Style product. What I love most about the smart electric fan is its minimalistic and futuristic design. It doesn’t even have any physical buttons. With my voice control, it allows me to turn on/off the device and set the fan speed up to 12.

The IoT devices can let you live the futuristic life you’ve witnessed in an SF movie. So, why not give it a shot?
