“Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise.”
― Sigmund Freud
When it comes to smartwatches, I was an early adopter. Back in 2014, I bought LG Android Smart Watch working together with my Nexus 5 back then. My second smartwatch was from Huawei and it paved my way for committing to the Huawei/Android ecosystem with the brand’s phone and tablet. But my antipathy towards the Chinese brand’s products due to ethical reasons abruptly ended my relationship with Huawei. My choice of purchase is not dealing with anything from China and avoid the country’s brands.
There is a slew of products made by different manufacturers, particularly those made by Huawei and Samsung. Since Huawei clearly intends to push ahead with plans to create its own ecosystem drifting around its infamous HarmonyOS, it’s already out of my option. Additionally, considering China’s brutal abuse of human rights, how could you purchase any products designed by those who have been obtained by CCP? I’m not! And Samsung has been trying so hard to make Android look not like Android with its attempt to also create its own ecosystem. For instance, their Galaxy Watch is powered by their in-house Tizen OS, and it has nothing to do with Google! As I’m someone who would like to immerse himself into the Google ecosystem, those manufactured by Huawei and Samsung are not even my options.
Having mentioned my choice of purchase, I’ve traditionally been a keen buyer of American products. From phones to earbuds and almost everything in between, I can’t imagine a life without products originated in the US, especially those designed and created by Google and Microsoft.
As Google is edging close to acquire Fitbit, Fitbit Sense was my obvious option for a smartwatch. Also, their good reputations to bridge the gap between fitness and wellness gave me another reason to purchase one. Having used the device for almost three weeks now, I’m fully satisfied with the watch. It tracks my stress, temperature, blood oxygen, sleep, and steps every day. Besides bath time, I wear it and keeps tracking my health conditions with its whole slew of sensors.
Finally, as a Google fanboy, it was great news that Fitbit promised us that it will bring Google Assistance to the watch later this year with the future update. Together with my daily driver – Pixel 4a, my endless adventure to the Google ecosystem is now unstoppable!
Here are some shots of Fitbit Sense and its package.
