“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.”
― Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets
For those who don’t know what dbrand is, dbrand is a company based in Toronto. With a high-qualified 3M vinyl, dbrand skins are the de-facto standard when it comes to phone/tablet skins. They made the first debut with a skin for iPhone 4, but now that they offer a wide variety of skins not only for phones but also for iPads, laptops, headphones, mobile chargers, game consoles, and wearables. The company name, dbrand, was derived from the idea of debranding a phone by covering phoee logos with their minimalistic yet good taste skins.
Personally, I’ve been a traditional Android user. My daily driver is Pixel 4a and my main machine is Surface Pro 7. Despite their difference in the OS, Android and Windows can work together with Your Phone App provided by Microsoft. Still, the phone and the tablet are manufactured by different companies so that I’ve always wanted to create an integration between them just like what Apple does with their highly integrated devices. The solution I came up with was to apply dbrand skins with the same design on both devices.
This time, the colors I selected are Black Camo and Red Carbon. I personally believe the combinations between black and red are so dope, and applying my taste on my daily drivers makes my phone and tablet look exclusive to mine.
Although I mentioned the fact that my main machine is Surface Pro 7, I’m also a heavy Linux user. And my main Linux machine is System 76’s Galago Pro. I hope dbrand will provide skins for System 76 devices in the future (I know it’s unlikely happening, though).
Here are some shots of my dbranded Pixel 4a and Surface Pro7. Enjoy!
