Twelve Midnight

“The finest of pleasures are always the unexpected ones.”
― Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus

It was twelve midnight in Tokyo. The city fell asleep, and people were missing. Since it was right after the shower rain, haze spilled into the dark night sky. The urban skyline was mysteriously lit up by skyscrapers. It was like an alternative universe where things went differently than in ours.

In the night, I had no choice but staying in Shinjuku, Tokyo. After having enjoyed talking with my friend, I realized I missed the last train. Giving up on slight hope of going back to my home in Yokohama, I decided to spend the night in the city, capturing what it looks like to be in the megalopolis at twelve midnight.

The poster reads “Every day is a fresh start”. But in the reality, all we have is just another ordinary day.
