Known as simply “Shimo” to the locals, Shimokitazawa locates in a southwestern corner of Tokyo that has been enjoying its unique status as a hipster haven, a thrift store goldmine, and an epicenter to the city’s hobo community. Nestled between the two behemoth cities, Shibuya and Shinjuku, Shimo was once chosen as the “World’s Coolest Neighborhood” according to a 2014 Vogue listing.
And this was one of my most anticipated cities, not because of those aforementioned labels, but my favorite anime was set in the city.
Someday’s Dreamers Natsu No Sora mainly set in Shimokitazawa. I love the anime because of some inspirational quotes that motivated me.
