“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.” ― Helen Keller
Being a tour guide, Haznal Zainal Tamin comes to Japan a few times a year. If you have been reading my blog posts, probably you remember him from my last year’s post: Hasnul And His Friends. And this time, he wasn’t alone. He brought his recently-married wife. Yes, life is changing, and he’s entering a whole new season of his life. As his friend, I’m happy for him. Not only with Haznul and his wife, but another Indonesian friend, Faizal, joined us on the night. Four of us went to a chain restaurant nearby, catching up with each other about the past year. For me, it was the first time to see him after my 6-month relocation to the US. As is often the case with when I hang out with foreign friends, our conversation tends to become multilingual. Generally, we speak in English, but sometimes in Japanese. And they talk to each other in Indonesian. Just like I occasionally do with Haznul on social media, English is our primary language. Anyways, it was a great time hanging out with them.
