Living in the World of Open Source

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” ― Helen Keller

As we enter 2019, I want to write something different from what I have posted here. And I’m aware of the fact that this blog is about photography but started to feel that this blog hasn’t been able to fully represent my curiosity across different sorts of things other than photography. The world is changing every single moment as well as is full of wonder. My curiosity across all sorts of topics, such as technology, politics, climate change, human rights, and name a few, has driven me to write a more wide variety of matters. Here, let me share my obsession with the technology, specifically the world of open source.

Ever since I first met Linux almost five years ago, I fell in love with its openness. Not only me but also all the other Linux users love its distros mainly because of its control. They prefer open source software for they have more control over the software/OS than the other way around, such as Windows or macOS. Rather than a traditional top-down operation, its open collaboration among millions of communities all around the globe is changing our reality every single day. There is an immense opportunity for no matter who you are or where you’re from. Open. I love the word.

From some point on, I started to use less Windows and entirely got rid of Apple products from my digital life. I love the command lines, and open-source programming languages, such as Python. Currently, I’m learning Java, and one of my resolutions of the year is to release an Android app on the Play Store. And my phone, without a doubt, is powered by Android. Using my Android tablet, I’ve been learning algebra on a daily basis.

With the global demand for skilled workers continuing to grow, immersing myself in the world of technology has driven me to achieve a ticket to freedom, starting another life abroad. I know, it might sound like a long shot. But I believe it is the most realistic option to achieve both financial and spiritual freedom. Finally, here are some shots of my gadgets I photographed in my room.
