“The painter constructs, the photographer discloses.”
― Susan Sontag, On Photography
While it’s exciting to visit whatever the season, Yokohama Chinatown is never more enjoyable than during its festive season. As did I last year, I photographed the annual Chinese Spring Festival in Yokohama Chinatown, which is carried out under the lunatic calendar to celebrate Chinese New Year. The festival introduces Chinese traditional cultures and performances, such as dragon and lion dances, parades in imperial costumes, firecrackers, and more. Since the firecrackers exploded right in front of me, I had to cover my ears with my hands for multiple times (and that was such an unpleasant experience). The parade itself was carried out without any troubles and was very fun to watch. I, however, am not sure whether or not will I photograph the parade next year; because I hate crowds and noises, to be honest…
