Shonan Photography in Late 2016 and Early 2017

“To the complaint, ‘There are no people in these photographs,’ I respond, There are always two people: the photographer and the viewer.”
― Ansel Adams

Shonan is a name of the region along the coast of Sagami bay centered around Enoshima island, an island about 50 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. Ever since my high school days, I’ve been haunting the region to take a walk along the beach for a change. Lately, I’ve been taking my foreign friends to wander around the island and enjoy the food cooked with locally fished ingredients. When you take a ride on Enoden train that runs along the coast of the Shonan beaches, you’ll be able to view the coastal scenes of the area. If luckily, the region offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji. That famous Japanese artwork “The Great Wave of Kanagawa” depicted this area.
